Not all students learn the same way. Many do not have the opportunity or attention span to sit in a classroom five days a week. Some have anxieties or other barriers that keep them from learning effectively in a classroom with 30+students. As a result, many young people lack options for learning in a way that best suits them.

Educators are realizing that different models such as competency-based or personalized learning needs to be a dominant part of a new standard for delivering education effectively to all students. And parents agree – 89% of those with high school-aged children say it is important to structure school to serve individual students, rather than forcing a “one-size-fits-all” approach.

Learn4Life is a network of nonprofit public high schools that provide students personalized learning, career training and life skills. Job skills training programs help students prepare for a future beyond a diploma with work readiness skills, work-based learning opportunities, internships and job opportunities.

Each school is locally controlled, tuition free and gives students the flexibility and one-on-one attention they need to succeed. The flexibility is great for students who need to work or care for a child and allows them to study on their own time – either at school or home.

At Learn4Life, students can learn in a way that best suits them, schedule school on their own time, prioritize their mental health, be authentically themselves and feel safe in a supportive environment. It’s not just for show, Learn4Life helps students become the best versions of themselves.

Serving more than 53,000 students annually, Learn4Life helps them prepare for life after high school. And 90% are successful – either graduating from our program, catching up and returning to their old school or continuing in pursuit of a high school diploma.

California Charter Schools Association (CCSA) Advocates is the political and advocacy companion organization to CCSA. CCSA Advocates is committed to building and sustaining a favorable policy environment at the state and local level for California’s charter schools, which are free, public, and open to all. We strive to enhance public discourse about charter public schools in California and increase awareness about the movement's contributions through collective action, leadership development, and candidate training and support.

Unfortunately, charter public schools remain under attack in Sacramento. Special interests utilize their considerable resources to protect their privileges at the expense of our students, families, and communities. CCSA Advocates stands up and fights back, making a positive difference in local and statewide elections.

District & County School Board Races
• CCSA Advocates is committed to reigning in over-regulation and other unsound authorizing practices through the endorsement and election of thoughtful school board members who employ evidence-based decision-making under the law.

Legislative Races
• CCSA Advocates endorses and supports legislative candidates committed to protecting charter schools as a viable option for students, families, and teachers.

Statewide Ballot Measures & Funding Initiatives
• CCSA Advocates monitors and advocates for and against ballot measures and state bonds that impact the charter public school sector.

Local Funding Initiatives
• CCSA Advocates has worked with school boards and district administration to ensure charters are treated equitably under local funding initiatives.

If you are interested in getting more involved in the work of CCSA Advocates, please contact Gregory McGinity, Executive Director of CCSA Advocates at gmcginity@ccsaadvocates.org.
