Demystifying Financial Statements
Do you dread the part of the board meeting when it is time to review and discuss the financial statements? You’re not alone! We will demystify the fundamentals of accounting and budgeting so that you are prepared to confidently engage in financial discussions. Attendees will understand how to read and analyze financial statements and budgets as well as learn what data is important to lenders. Attendees will also work in groups to practice communication of financial information to stakeholders, including those who may not be financially savvy.

She has worked with a range of schools, from charter developers as they get authorized to established networks like Environmental Charter Schools and Synergy Academies. Dorothy has presented at conferences on a wide variety of topics including replication, renewals, facilities, start-up, budgeting, governance and benchmarking.

Kelly Theofanis is a Loan Officer in Charter School Financing at LISC. She evaluates credit risk and manages due diligence, underwriting, and closing processes for LISC’s charter school facility financings nationally.

Tracy Bondi is the Director of Finance at Environmental Charter Schools. Tracy earned her BA and MBA from UCLA. Tracy worked in strategic sourcing, communications and operations in manufacturing firms. While earning her MBA, she first learned about charter schools, and interned at Green Dot Public Schools. Tracy worked at EdTec as a Client Manager / VP of Client Management for the SoCal office. She has also served as Board Chair of SOAR Charter Academy and provided consulting to Aveson charter schools.
