Expos are made up of 45-minute poster sessions organized around broad programming and/or particular audiences. Poster Sessions provide an opportunity for a small group of attendees to interact in an informal environment with a subject matter expert. Presenters illustrate their content by displaying graphs, photos, diagrams and a small amount of text on poster boards.

Jennifer brings over 15 years’ experience in both Human Resources and Operations, most recently serving Natomas Charter School for three years as a Human Resources and Payroll Analyst. Jennifer studied at Cosumnes River College and is a professional member of the Sacramento Area Human Resources Association. Jennifer has earned a Human Resources Certification specializing in California labor law from the Human Resources Certification Institute.

Tiffany Castro Tiffany Castro, ExED

Tiffany Castro joined ExED in 2014 to support ExED schools with CALPADS reporting and provide guidance with student data compliance and management, specifically in student information systems (SIS). Prior to joining ExED, Tiffany served as Director of Operations and Compliance at Larchmont Schools and she has worked in educational institutions and libraries since 2002. Tiffany has a master’s degree in Library and Information Science from UCLA and bachelor’s degrees in History and Latin American and Latino Studies from UC Santa Cruz.

Susan Diamanti Susan Diamanti, CharterSAFE

Susan has 20 years of experience in the field of California Workers’ Compensation. Susan has worked for Gallagher Bassett Services and Travelers Insurance Co. As a senior adjuster, she handled all aspects of claim management including investigation, litigated cases, and catastrophic losses. She now serves as the Workers’ Compensation Director for CharterSAFE, providing advisory and analytical assistance to member schools.

Dan Gibbens Dan Gibbens, Records Consultants, Inc.

Dan is the President and CEO of Records Consultants, Inc., the leading provider of fixed asset management & records retention services for local government entities across the nation. RCI provides services to over 600 public school districts, cities, and counties. Prior to owning RCI, Dan worked over 25 years in banking, insurance, healthcare, and consulting services. This experience included senior executive leadership in multiple entrepreneurial and high-growth organizations. Dan attended undergraduate school at Texas State University and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science. Dan also attended St. Mary’s University for graduate studies in Business Administration.

My name is Summer Hottinger, The Director of HR and Operations at The Academy of Alameda. This year marks my 9th year working at AoA. I helped The Academy of Alameda Middle School open its doors for the first time back in 2010 and then the Elementary School in 2015. I have worn many hats during my time at AoA from After School Coordinator to Testing Coordinator. My experience has helped me build a deep understanding of the school’s operations and has given me the tools I need to help improve efficiency.

Previously, Jason was the National Director of Sales & Operations at 3P Learning where he managed a sales and implementation team across the US & Latin America.

Stacie Ivery Stacie Ivery, The Academy of Alameda

Stacie Ivery is the Director of Finance at The Academy of Alameda and has over 15 years of experience in education. She has had the opportunity to work in a variety of positions within schools from an Outreach Consultant to a Director of Finance, which has provided her with a well-rounded understanding of how schools run in the classroom and the back office. Stacie has been responsible for opening back offices for new and established charter schools, charter renewals, and creating systems for accounts payable, payroll, budgeting, fiscal compliance, and fiscal policies.

Frank Jacobs Frank Jacobs, Helios Ed

In sales and sales management for over 25 years, Frank has for the last 11 years devoted his expertise to K-12 Education. As a trusted partner within the school systems, Frank has always used his problem-solving skills to help reach goals of the Charters and School Districts he has serviced. Frank has worked with some of the largest districts in California including Long Beach, Capistrano, Corona-Norco to name a few, with the knowledge of the K-12 procurement procedures to make it seamless. He has learned over the years how important it is to streamline a process for schools.

Yvette King-Berg Yvette King-Berg, Youth Policy Institute

Yvette King-Berg, is the Executive Director of Youth Policy Institute's Charter Schools. She was the former California Charter Schools Association Vice-President of School Development and Outreach-Southern California. She is currently working toward her doctoral degree in Educational Leadership and Change at Fielding Graduate University. She has presented her research about parental involvement at the American Educational Research Association (AERA) Annual Meeting. Ms. King-Berg has over thirty years of experience working with teachers, students, parents, and organizations in a variety of positions including Director, Assistant Director, Curriculum Advisor, Bilingual, and Title 1 Coordinators, classroom teacher (K-12) in Pasadena and LAUSD.

Josh Kinoshita Josh Kinoshita, ApplyLA / Great Public Schools Now

Josh Kinoshita is a Teach for America alumnus committed to education reform in Southern California. In his role at Great Public Schools Now, Josh oversees Los Angeles' first charter common enrollment platform - ApplyLA. Josh currently serves as the Founding Board Chair of Soleil Academy, a TK-5th grade charter public school, the first charter authorized to serve students and families in Lynwood, CA. Previously, Josh has held various roles in technology and operations at two of LA's highest performing charter networks, KIPP LA Schools and Ednovate.

With more than 25 years of Human Resources experience, Karla has a broad range of expertise in employee relations, compliance, benefit (health and retirement) administration, performance management, training and development, recruiting, compensation and payroll administration. Karla has a Master's Degree in Public Administration from the University of Southern California, and has SPHR, PHRca, SHRM-SCP and Micro-Credential in California Employment Law designations from the Society for Human Resources Management and Human Resources Certification Institute.

Naomi Tamrat Naomi Tamrat, ExED

Naomi Tamrat joined ExED in December 2015 as a Sr Data Management Coordinator helping ExED schools with their attendance, nutrition, and CALPADS data reporting. She currently oversees the meal claim and eligibility processes for ExED’s partner schools. Prior to joining ExED, Naomi worked in the fields of business advocacy, education civil rights policy, and college admissions. Naomi has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from UCLA.

Annice Weinstein Annice Weinstein, EdTec, Inc.

In her role with EdTec, Annice has been assisting charter schools with analyzing and presenting their achievement data for renewals, WASC and grant proposals for over a decade. She also has expertise in the development and implementation of assessment systems for schools, such as IO, Illuminate, and DataDirector. Prior to joining EdTec, Annice managed Kaplan K12's student assessment system, and developed curriculum for LeapFrog SchoolHouse and Computer Curriculum Corporation.

Carly Weston is an accomplished Risk and Claims Manager for California Charter Schools Joint Powers Authority DBA CharterSAFE. She develops risk management tools, practices, and policies to analyze and mitigate charter school risks, as well as manages a broad spectrum of claims throughout California. Carly has a BS, MPA, and ARM designation.
