Expos are made up of 45-minute poster sessions organized around broad programming and/or particular audiences. Poster Sessions provide an opportunity for a small group of attendees to interact in an informal environment with a subject matter expert. Presenters illustrate their content by displaying graphs, photos, diagrams and a small amount of text on poster boards.

Karen M. Caruso earned her bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts at the Hartford Art School, then went on to complete a master’s degree in Education at UCLA and another master’s degree in Psychology at Antioch University. As a classroom clinician, mother and stepmother of three, and veteran National Board Certified LAUSD classroom teacher, Karen specializes in bridging the gap between school and home for her students. Karen has been a relentless researcher informed by her real-world experience in the classroom and as a teacher of teachers in the UCLA Graduate School of Education, Teach LA and Pacific Oaks College Teacher Education Programs.

Dr. Christy Cleugh has been an educator for 25 years. She has spent the past 15 years solely focused on online learning and student achievement. Dr. Cleugh has held many roles in online learning including; teacher, trainer, curriculum development director, school administrator and now she works for FLVS in the role of Digital Education Consultant. Her passion is working with schools to find solutions to the growing needs of their students.

Jessica Falkenthal Jessica Falkenthal, Vidcode

Jessica is part of the Vidcode team. Vidcode an online coding platform for K12 schools. She started her career as a library assistant, educator, and designer. Jessica studied studied Informatics at Indiana University and worked to double the number of women pursuing computer science degrees at IU in 18 months. Since then she has made it her mission to help teens find their passion and purpose.

Laura Fulmer Laura Fulmer, Valley Oak Charter

Laura’s background includes working as a professional photographer, managing a large private company and, after the birth of her children, working in public school support positions. Before returning to school herself to earn her teaching credential in 1997, Laura worked as a campus intramural coach, a classroom aide, a school librarian, a reading instructor, and an office manager for the Ventura Unified School District, serving at her daughter’s local elementary school.
During those same years, Laura also served as PTA president, both at the school and district levels, and the juncture of educator and parent as co-contributors to a student’s education has been central to her journey in the charter movement. After receiving her credential in 1998, Laura taught grades 6, 7 and 8 for the Ojai Unified School District; in 2003, she accepted the leadership of Valley Oak Charter’s fledging homeschool program. Having a background in business and first-hand experience at many aspects of public education has helped Laura to understand, value, and support all facets of the VOC program, not just the school’s administration. Laura has her Bachelor of Arts in English Literature, a clear Multiple Subject Credential and a CLAD certification.

Jennifer Gaulier Jennifer Gaulier, Florida Virtual School (FLVS)

National Board Certified Teacher Jennifer Gaulier has been a teacher, lead teacher, and Digital Education Consultant for 15 years. Ms. Gaulier earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of North Florida in Social Sciences Education, 6-12, in 2003 and her National Board Certification in Social Studies, History/Early Adolescence in 2007. She has spent the last 7 years in the online and blended school environments. She currently works with the FLVS Global team as the West Territory Digital Education Consultant in the Business Development & Solutions part of the organization.

Clint Gearheart Clint Gearheart, Infinite Mind

Gearheart brings over eighteen years of executive leadership, operations, sales, product and marketing experience to the table utilizing a consultative approach to business growth and management. He has worked across several verticals and industries with the same focus. Telling it like it is. Putting the intended customer first and getting the right result. Recently he has joined the Infinite Mind Team as President. Helping and serving others is the primary goal in Clint's life so having a product that unlocks an individual ability to learn is perfect.

Marie Girardot Marie Girardot, Engineer Your World, The University of Texas

Marie Girardot specializes in providing guidance to educators seeking the right engineering solution for their high school's STEM pathway. A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Marie joined Engineer Your World from the University of Texas's Center for Lifelong Engineering Education, where she supported the continuing education efforts of professional engineers.

Michael Guirguis Michael Guirguis, Yup

Michael is the head of business development and school partnerships at Yup. Prior to joining the edtech world, Michael was a senior consultant with McKinsey & Company in Dubai, where he worked with Education Ministries on their country-wide education priorities and strategic vision. In McKinsey's New York office, Michael analyzed technology investments for private equity clients. Prior to becoming a consultant, Michael worked with the National Economic Council in the White House with a focus on housing policy and reducing the unemployment rate. Michael graduated from Stanford University with Honors and wrote his thesis on education for employment.

Dena Koren Dena Koren, EdTec, Inc.

Dena brings a blend of education and private sector experience to her work at EdTec. Early in her career, Dena led teacher recruitment at BELL (Building Educated Leaders for Life), a national nonprofit afterschool and summer program for low-income students. Prior to EdTec, Dena worked as a strategy consultant with The Boston Consulting Group. In her current role, Dena works with a wide variety of charter schools, advising them on developing and managing their schools’ financials effectively and to achieve sustainability. Dena holds an MBA from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business and an AB from Princeton University.

Nancy joined the foundation in the summer of 2012 after a 23-year career as a teacher, administrator, coach and robotics mentor. As a credentialed educator she has helped to develop the foundations online curriculum, the engineering notebooks, and has worked with teachers around the world to empower them to successfully incorporate VEX Robotics teams on their school campuses. Additional foundation initiatives that Nancy has played a role in the development of include the Online Challenges, the STEM Hall of Fame and Girl Powered.

Anjanette Urdanivia, is CEO of A Plus Charter Consulting with over 11 years of experience in the areas of Data Analysis, LCAP, Strategic Planning, Leadership Coaching, WASC Accreditation, Grant Writing, Compliance Monitoring, and Charter Petition development & renewal. She Chairs and serves on numerous WASC Visiting Committees and prepares Charter Schools for successful WASC Initial and Self-Study Visits. She is a Certified Trainer, for 'Classroom Instruction That Works,' and 'Conducting Power Walkthroughs.' Also, she has a stellar track record as a grant writer, who has successfully acquired over $20.5M in grant funds including the PCSGP, CTE, and numerous others.

Craig Walker Craig Walker, Valley Oak Charter School

Craig Walker has been a public school teacher for 49 years. Fourteen years ago he joined the staff at Valley Oak Charter School, a Homeschool Charter program in Ojai. Craig has served the school in a number of roles, most recently as Assistant Director.

Bryant Wong Bryant Wong, Summit Public Schools

Bryant Wong is the Chief Technology Officer at Summit Public School, has over 19 years of technology experience. He currently leads the technology and security functions at Summit focused heavily on a designing and sharing Summit's approach to data security for K-12. Prior before Bryant entered the education industry, he worked for various competitive telecommunications startups building fiber optic backbones for metro area networks. He also holds a Bachelor's from Golden Gate University and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of San Francisco. Bryant also serves as a board member for the K-12 National Advisory Council on Cybersecurity.

The 25th annual conference will be held March 26–28, 2018 in San Diego, CA at the San Diego Convention Center.
