Planning for E-Rate Workshop Course Description: Actually create a draft tech plan during this hands-on tutorial! Prepare documents for your first E-Rate application. Presenters will explain how tech plans relate to E-Rate and coach participants through the entire process. Receive guidance on technology, eligibility, discounts, how long it takes and more! Discuss plans with colleagues and be ready for the next funding cycle! Presented by Learningtech.org

E-Rate is a $3.9B federal discount program that supports technology for schools. The most effective way to get your share of that fund is to apply for funding every year with a carefully planned strategy to support school goals.

Create a draft tech plan during this six-hour, pre-conference, hands-on tutorial. In addition, prepare a draft application for the next E-Rate funding cycle. Learn about technology, eligibility, discounts, how long it takes and more. Presenters will explain how a thoughtful plan can help your school access its share of the $3.9 billion in discounts available. A well-organized “evergreen” plan – a plan that is updated annually – can help maximize E-Rate program funding and ensure that your funding is spent wisely. An excellent technology plan can attract funding from other sources, such as foundations. Tech plans are invaluable for keeping your implementation projects on track and helping administrators with budgeting. Discuss plans with colleagues and be ready for the next E-Rate funding cycle! After providing a brief review of the E-Rate program fundamentals – including key points from the FCC’s sweeping 2014 E-Rate Modernization Order and the 2016 implementation of the E-Rate Productivity Portal, participants will be guided through the primary E-Rate online forms, actually drafting an application for the next E-Rate funding cycle. Participants should bring their own computers with wireless capability. (Don’t forget your power cord!)
